Web-based CSA Training through Vertical Alliance

Safety is a top priority for the Fikes Family of Companies, one we are addressing through new technology and training for our contractors. In 2011, we began offering a web-based CSA training program. Offered through Vertical Alliance, the program educates drivers about CSA requirements, ratings and how to avoid violations.

In March of this year, Fikes President and CEO, Gary Salisbury, was elected Chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), where he represents the industry to lawmakers, the media and special interest groups across the country. Primary to his agenda is enhancing the industry’s image.

Salisbury still loves owning and driving trucks!

Check out this video taken at the Great American Trucking Show where Salisbury describes the truck he bought from a retired Fikes Contractor, Lyndon McConnell.

Lyndon drove 3 million miles during his twenty-year tenure with Fikes. Gary is only the second owner of the truck, which he had repainted the same color scheme and replaced the transmission.

On Monday, July 18, and Thursday July 21, our own Gary Salisbury hauled two truckloads of groceries to Joplin, Missouri, providing citizens with resources needed to recover from the tornado that devastated their community in May. Hope for Joplin, a local organization dedicated to supplying aid for Joplin and its citizens, surpassed their goal of $25,000 and raised over $40,000, all of which was donated by the people of Hope, Arkansas.

We are excited to announce that we have just finalized a contract with NASA! FTL Logistics will be making shipments from the Edwards Air Force Base in California to all points in the US. NASA will be shipping various commodities via our diverse equipment base.

Allen Brown, Government Services Manager, says, “working with NASA is a huge opportunity. NASA chose Fikes and FTL based on the high caliber of services that we offer. We are hopeful this contract will pave the way for additional opportunities within the government.
 

Louisville, KY ... Fikes Truck Line and its sister company, FTL Logistics donated a van trailer to Corporal Norm Schneiderhan and his group of volunteer truckers who are dedicated to helping others. The trailer was unveiled in the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Parking Lot and will be used to transport cooking equipment for benefit meals, including the lunch hosted during the MidAmerica Truck Show (MATS).
