When Jim Smith bought Fikes Truck Line in 1981, the US was in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Still, Fikes grew from 11 flatbeds to almost 100 in those first two years. Since then, we’ve continued to grow adding 48-state operating authority, brokering authority (now FTL Logistics), a Government Division, and terminals in key lanes.
